SAU is happy to share the creation of “The Dr. Raju and Ginny Thomas Distinguished Lectureship” Endowed Lecturer.
Dr. Raju Thomas served as Program Director of the Tulane University School of Medicine’s Urology Residency Program for over three decades, leading a highly respected and successful training program. Under his leadership, the program developed a strong reputation for clinical excellence, education, and mentorship, shaping generations of urologists.
The program faced an unprecedented challenge in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, which led to a temporary shutdown and required residents to be reassigned to other Urology Residency Programs. Despite these disruptions, Dr. Thomas and his team remained committed to the program’s continuity and future, working diligently to rebuild and restore the residency program at Tulane.
Through close collaboration with the ACGME and the Urology RRC, Dr. Thomas successfully facilitated the return of all displaced residents, ensuring they were able to complete their training and graduate from Tulane over a two-year period. This accomplishment stands as one of the defining highlights of his tenure as Program Director and reflects his dedication to both the program and its trainees.
More details to come!
