Dear Colleague:
The American Urological Association (AUA) presently serves as the administrator of the Society of Academic Urologists’ (SAU) National Urology Residency Match. Both the SAU and the AUA are proud of the longstanding collaboration in support of urology residency training programs and the future urology workforce.
The AUA will sunset its administration of the Match following the completion of the 2027 Match cycle (results of which are announced in early 2028). The AUA will continue to serve as SAU’s Urology Match administrator for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 cycles.
SAU and AUA are committed to working together over the next two years to ensure a seamless transition to a new Match administrator. The strong, longstanding partnership between our organizations will continue, along with our many collaborations supporting medical students, residents, and residency programs across the country.
The SAU Board of Directors has initiated the process of selecting and contracting an alternative match administrator with dedicated expertise in residency match operations to ensure a seamless transition for subspecialty recruitment. This process will include stakeholder engagement and feedback from member institutions, program directors and coordinators, chairs, applicants, and other parties.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for all you do to advance our specialty. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.
Sincerely,

Simone Thavaseelan, MD
President

Lane Palmer, MD
