2022 – 2023 Match Cycle Update

After careful consideration and extensive member input, the SAU is requiring a uniform approach to residency interviews for the 2022 – 2023 application cycle. Specifically, all programs are required to conduct virtual only interviews.

This policy is consistent with the strong recommendation of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), along with the American Medical Association (AMA), Organization of Program Director Associations (OPDA), and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). It also reflects concerns regarding COVID pandemic and the unusually difficult and costly nature of travel at this time. Moreover, this creates an equitable and uniform approach at a time where programs may experience variable institutional limitations.
